AAPI Next Gen Trailblazers Gala
On September 13, 2023 at China Institute in New York City, the Serica Initiative convened trailblazers, thought leaders, and rising talents to empower and inspire each other along Serica's mission: to galvanize a global community of changemakers to advocate for greater Asian American inclusion and advance positive social impact in U.S.-China relations, through dialogue, storytelling, and our convening power.
Honorees included George Takei, Star Trek actor, author, and civil rights activist; Wendy O’Neill, Life Trustee of the Rockefeller-funded Asian Cultural Council and former Trustee of Rockefeller Brothers Fund; Frank H. Wu, President of Queens College, former Committee of 100 Chairman, and Serica Board Member; and Patricia Chin OD, Co-Founder of VP Records, the world’s largest independent reggae label.

Empowering Women in Tech
We partnered with Brix Labs & AWS Start Up Labs to welcome learners to a networking event during SF Tech Week to learn from women at different points of their careers to speak on the challenges and opportunities as women in tech. Serica Storytellers: Preserving Legacies | Yue-Sai Kan

Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist and author Sheryl WuDunn helped us explore the state of women's rights and empowerment in today's world. With the expertise of WuDunn and the nuanced perspective of documentary filmmaker Maro Chermayeff, this event was a deep dive into the complex narrative of gender equality in 2024.
Meet us in Seattle Happy Hour
The China Project and The Serica Initiative members met in Seattle for casual drinks and conversation with local supporters and activists at Optimism Brewing Company for an inspired evening. The event was co-sponsored by the Washington State China Relations Council.
The Serica Annual Gala
Serica kicked off its benefit series in an exploration of the themes of social impact and to strengthen the community of those who want to DO WELL X DO GOOD in the U.S.-China space.
Climate, Comedy, & Cocktails
This event featured over 200 guests convening during NY Climate Week for a celebration of our new docuseries done in partnership with ALL ARTS, Climate Artists. Guests enjoyed climate friendly food and cocktails along with an eco-market of community partners, an expert panel on US/Asia climate policy, stand-up comedy from Jiaoying Summers, and a fireside chat with one of the artists from the series, sTo Len, after watching the premiere of his episode! The event was graciously hosted by the talented BD Wong.
Voices Rising: What's Next for Asian Americans in the Arts?
In May during AAPI Heritage month, we partnered with the WNET Groups ALL ARTS, & EXPLORING HATE, and CUNY AARI to host talented AAPI writers, actors, and performers to discuss their experiences living and working in America, its challenges, and opportunities.
