In 2006, Marcelo founded Care.com, an online marketplace dedicated to connecting families with caregivers across multiple domains, including childcare, senior care, and housekeeping. Under her leadership as Chairwoman and CEO, Care.com expanded its services to over 35 million members in 20 countries and went public in 2014. After her tenure at Care.com, Marcelo co-founded Proof of Learn in 2022, an educational platform aimed at leveraging blockchain technology to facilitate accessible learning opportunities. In 2024, she launched Ohai.ai, a technology startup utilizing generative AI to assist families in managing household tasks through an AI assistant named "O."
